Reason for the Shortage
- Hospira has procainamide injection on shortage due to manufacturing delays.
- There are no other manufacturers of procainamide injection.

Estimated Resupply Dates
Hospira has procainamide 100 mg/mL 10 mL vials and 500 mg/mL 2 mL vials on back order and the company estimates a release date of January 2014 for the 100 mg/mL 10 mL vials and 1st quarter 2014 for the 500 mg/mL 2 mL vials.
Both vial sizes provide procainamide 1 gram, although the concentration is different. Ensure safe use of different concentrations during this shortage.
