Reason for the Shortage
- American Regent has epinephrine on shortage due to manufacturing delays.
- Hospira has epinephrine syringes on shortage due to manufacturing delays.
- JHP states the reason for the shortage is increased demand.
- Amphastar states the shortage is due to increased demand. Amphastar changed the NDC numbers of their epinephrine products in November 2012.

Estimated Resupply Dates
- American Regent has epinephrine 1 mg/mL 30 mL vials and epinephrine 1 mg/mL preservative free (sulfite-free) 1 mL ampules on back order and the company cannot estimate a release date.
- Amphastar has epinephrine 0.1 mg/mL 10 mL syringes and 1 mg/mL 30 mL vials on intermittent back order and the company is releasing product regularly.
- Hospira has epinephrine 0.1 mg/mL 10 mL Lifeshield 18 gauge and 21 gauge syringes on back order. The company estimates a release date of mid- to late-May 2013 for the 21 gauge syringes and June 2013 for the 18 gauge syringes. Epinephrine 1 mg/mL 1 mL preservative-free ampules in 25 count presentations are on allocation.
- JHP has Adrenalin 1 mg/mL 1 mL preservative-free vials on intermittent back order and the company is releasing product regularly.
