Information for Residency Program Directors
New This Year! The application process for participation in the 2009 ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting Residency Showcase will be online! You asked for it and you got it! This process will allow you to receive an immediate confirmation of your site’s booth number and respective display session.
Back by popular demand! Participants will be able to select from three different booth sizes again this year. A limited number of the larger booths (for 2 or more programs at an institution) and jumbo (for 4 or more programs at an institution) will be offered for each session. The booths will be assigned on a first come, first served basis so it will be important to reserve early to get your preferred session. Don’t gamble, sign up early!
Up-to-Date Live Listings! In order to make sure that programs and prospective residency applicants have the most up-to-date listings, the residency showcase listing will no longer be published in the October 15 AJHP meeting issue or the onsite program book.
Attendees can view the name and booth number of participating programs via the online interactive floorplan. In addition, paper listings will be provided onsite at the Residency Showcase.
Showcase Hours, Sessions and Pricing- The Residency Showcase will be conducted during the following times: Monday, 1:00-4:00 p.m.; Tuesday, 8:00-11:00 a.m.; AND, Tuesday, 1:00-4:00 p.m. As mentioned booth assignments will be on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVED basis. These will be available to all programs in all forms of ASHP- accreditation status (ASHP-accredited, ASHP-candidate status, ASHP-pre-candidate status). Programs not yet in the ASHP-accreditation process will be able to sign up for the Tuesday, 1:00-4:00 p.m. session. The pricing is as follows: 10x10 -$555, 10x15-$830 and 10x20 -$1,105.

Information for Prospective Residents
All residency programs participating in the showcase will be displaying on either Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Tuesday morning from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., or Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. This allows a great opportunity for prospective residents to meet those programs recruiting for the 2010-2011 year!
The showcase is a terrific forum to meet programs' current residents and preceptors in an informal session and to gain information about their programs and institutions. Also, be sure to register for PPS if you want to have one-on-one interviews with programs participating in the showcase that are also interviewing in PPS. There are no other venues available for prospective residents and programs to meet so many potential residency candidates in such an efficient forum!
ASHP staff members and members of the ASHP Commission on Credentialing will be available at an information desk housed within the residency showcase to answer any questions that anyone may have during showcase hours.
HELPFUL TIPS FOR PROSPECTIVE RESIDENTS
- Your registration to the MCM allows you to participate in the showcase (no additional fees are necessary).
- Do your homework. It’s important to outline which sites you want to visit during the showcase. Please find out which date and time the sites that you plan to visit will be at the showcase. Take a look at the diagram of the showcase and know where you’re going to be visiting.
- Sites that only have one program will have smaller booths. Sites that have multiple programs may be displaying at larger booths.
- Programs are listed by site, not by specific type of residency program offered.
- Sites participating ONLY exhibit during ONE time slot. They DO NOT exhibit during ALL sessions.
- Make sure and look at the News and Views at the MCM during showcase days to see if any more programs have been added or any have changed their timeslot.
- If you don’t get a chance to talk to the program as much as you’d like, see if any of the program representatives are available to meet at another time during the meeting.
- Be respectful of each program's time. Have your questions prepared before you visit them at the showcase. If you are a student and will not be completing a residency in the next year, be respectful of the program and other candidates' time that are looking for a match during the upcoming year.
Good luck to all prospective residents and residency programs for the 2010-2011 residency year!
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN LAS VEGAS!
