State Affiliate Partner Activities

State Partner Responsibilities

Affiliates are asked to formally partner with ASHP for this initiative.  Signing on in this manner will demonstrate that the affiliate’s Board of Directors has agreed with this initiative as a worthy effort and that the organization is committed to working towards this common goal. State affiliate partners are asked to undertake the following activities:

  • Perform an assessment of the current political environment in their state with respect to support for technician related advocacy (with other pharmacy organizations, board of pharmacy, state leaders, etc).
  • Develop an action plan for advocacy based on environment, resources, and opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain lines of communication with key stakeholder groups within state (board of pharmacy, other pharmacy organizations, colleges/schools of pharmacy, ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training programs, etc.).
  • Communicate with key audiences in the state, including affiliate members, the value of professional contributions of an educated, trained, certified, and registered pharmacy technician workforce.
  • Participate in organizational and planning development activities sponsored by ASHP related to this issue.
  • Foster compliance with the related ASHP practice standards and policies as opportunities arise.
Foster the creation and maintenance of technician training programs.
  • Promote involvement and leadership development of technicians in the organization as it relates to this initiative.
