Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
ASHP has been accredited by Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education (ACPE) to provide continuing pharmacy education since 1980. The current six-year accreditation period is valid until 2010. In order to maintain accreditation, ASHP implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all the Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education, including the Standards for Commercial Support.
Physicians
ASHP has been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education for physicians since 2006. The current four-year accreditation period is valid until 2012. In order to maintain accreditation, ASHP implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all the Essential Areas and Elements, including the Standards for Commercial Support and ACCME’s Accreditation Policies.
Other Healthcare Professionals
Based on needs assessments, ASHP regularly seeks accreditation from the appropriate accrediting agencies for continuing education activities planned for other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, nurse practitioners, dietitians, case managers, and radiologic technologists.
