Reasons for selecting this career path
When I began my first residency I thought my entire focus in my profession would be the welfare of my patients. As I completed the PGY1 year I realized that I was interested in helping patients, but also in helping my peers to find their work satisfying and engaging on a daily basis. I entered a 2 year combined Masters and residency program and love it!
Interest in the NPF Executive Committee
My interest in New Practitioners and being involved on the Executive Committee really is derived from my desire to move the profession forward and ensure that the pharmacists I work with are getting the most from their work. To that end the NPFEC facilitates the connection of New Practitioners with what they need to be successful - I wanted to be part of that.
Professional Interests
Pharmacy Administration, Bone Marrow Transplant therapy, Human Resources and Organizational Learning, Quality Improvement, many more I haven’t even discovered yet!
Benefits of being involved in ASHP as a New Practitioner
There are so many benefits of being involved as a New Practitioner; the opportunity to be involved in a great organization, to have your voice heard and appreciated, connections with peers, networking with more experienced pharmacists…the part I find to be the most rewarding are the mentor relationships I have found both in other new practitioners, but even more so in the other pharmacists I have met from around the country.
