ASHP's Next Top New Practitioner Interviewer Competition Guidelines

Description of Competition

The ASHP New Practitioners Forum is pleased to announce a new competition for all new practitioner members. ASHP’s Next Top NEW PRACTITIONER Interviewer Competition gives new practitioners the opportunity to “audition” for a coveted ASHP E-News Video Update interviewer position at the 2009 ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada.

What is the ASHP E-News Video Update? ASHPtv.com is a web-based news program that provides onsite coverage of the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition. Each day during the meeting, an episode is released that contains videotaped interviews with meeting attendees and breaking news from the meeting. Fans of the news program receive an e-mail alert that announces the availability of each episode and summarizes the topics covered via subscription. The program is produced by ASHP Advantage and made possible by sponsorship from Roche Laboratories.  You can check out the 2008 E-News at www.ashptv.com/.

All new practitioners wanting to participate in the competition are asked to submit a video interview up to 3 minutes in length, addressing one of the following topics:

  • Opportunities for New Practitioners in the New Practitioners Forum
  • The Role of New Practitioners in Guiding Change as Part of the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Model Initiative
  • Fostering New Practitioner Involvement with ASHP State Affiliates
  • Preparing Students to Navigate the Midyear Clinical Meeting in Pursuit of a Residency

ASHP’s Next Top NEW PRACTITIONER Interviewer Competition allows new practitioners the opportunity to gain recognition in the ASHP member community, meet and interview key thought leaders in our profession, and further develop personal communication skills.

The chosen new practitioner interviewer ("NP correspondent") will work with E-News staff and will conduct a handful of on-camera interviews during the 2009 Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition. The interviews may be included as part of the E-News daily video episodes that are made available via ASHPtv.com. The estimated time commitment required from the NP correspondent is approximately 2 hours a day on two separate days. The exact time and days are flexible, but will fall between the hours of 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. during the December 6 – 9, 2009, timeframe.

Prize

The selected new practitioner winner will be announced in early October and the three-minute video will be posted on the ASHP Web site, on YouTube, and promoted via numerous communication channels. The winner will receive a complimentary registration to the 2009 Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition and a $250 stipend to help offset travel expenses associated with attending the meeting.

A panel of pharmacists will be used to judge the video submissions. Judging criteria includes, but is not limited to:
