Debra Lynn Painter Cowan, BS.Pharm., Pharm.D.

Debra Lynn Painter Cowan, BS.Pharm., Pharm.D. is Director of Pharmacy at Angel Medical Center, a 59-bed rural hospital. She has been a small and rural hospital pharmacist for 29 years, with 20 of those years also spent as director. She was the first pharmacist to work at her current hospital. There she expanded pharmacy services to include extensive clinical activities, pharmacy student preceptorship, and technologically enhanced medication safety procedures. As a small hospital director, her job duties are multiple and varied—ranging from staffing to providing community emergency preparedness. She graduated from the University of New Mexico (B.S. Pharm.) and the University of Colorado (Pharm.D.). Cowan has served on the Section’s Small and Rural Hospital Advisory Group since its inception and the Section’s Programming Committee. She served as moderator and speaker as well as led small and rural hospital networking sessions at the last two Midyear Meetings.

Randy L. Kuiper, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP
Randy L. Kuiper, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP is the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for Benefis Healthcare Pharmacy, Great Falls, Montana. He received both his B.S. and Pharm.D. degrees from the University of Montana and is board certified in pharmacotherapy. Kuiper has been a hospital pharmacist for 22 years. He was a staff pharmacist for 15 years prior to assuming his current role as clinical coordinator. Kuiper has served as a member and Chair of ASHP’s Council on Legal and Public Affairs. He is a Past President of both the Montana Pharmacy Association and the Montana Society of Health-System Pharmacists and has served for many years as a Montana delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates.

Jennifer M. Edwards, Pharm.D.

Jennifer M. Edwards, Pharm.D. is currently a Clinical Pharmacist at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital and Clinical Instructor for the University of Montana. Edwards received her Pharm.D. from Creighton University and completed a pharmacy practice residency. She has worked in a variety of hospital practice sites including managed care, a tertiary care medical center, and currently a small rural hospital. She has practiced both as a clinical pharmacist and in management positions, serving as Assistant Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice Residency Director at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington. Edwards has been an active member of ASHP, serving as a House of Delegates representative for Washington State, Chair of the Council on Educational Affairs, Chair of the Task Force on Pharmacy’s Changing Demographics, and Foundation’s Literature Awards Selection Panel reviewer. She also served on the Board of Directors for the WSPA and as a member of the MPA.

Richard Pacitti, Pharm.D., M.B.A.

Richard Pacitti, Pharm.D., M.B.A. is currently Clinical Pharmacy Manager and Residency Program Director for the Crozer Keystone Health System Pharmacy Department. He is a graduate of Temple University School of Pharmacy (B.S. and Pharm.D.) and St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (M.B.A.). He also has an academic affiliation with University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. During his 26-year career, Pacitti has had a wide array of pharmacy experiences including retail pharmacy, home infusion with Jefferson Home Infusion Service, and medical communications at all levels ranging from direct patient care to administrative responsibilities. Pacitti has served as a member of Section of Home, Ambulatory, and Chronic Care Practitioners Committee on Programming 2005, reviewer for AJHP, and evaluator for Eastern States Conference for Pharmacy Residents and Preceptors 2007−8. He is currently appointed to the Board of Directors for Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists and serves as Treasurer.

Brian D. Benson, Pharm.D.,R.Ph.

Brian D. Benson, Pharm.D. is employed with Iowa Health Systems—Lutheran Campus Pharmacy Department as Pharmacy Manager; he practices in a retail setting with Medicap Pharmacy in Des Moines. He received his Pharm.D. degree from the University of Kansas and his B.S. degree from Drake University, where he currently serves as adjunct professor. Benson also serves as pharmacy representative for one of five Disaster Medical Assistance Teams for the state of Iowa. Benson has been active in local, state, and national pharmacy organizations. He has served as President and is currently the Treasurer for Central Iowa Pharmacists Association. He also served on the Professional Affairs Committee, Executive Committee, and chaired the Acute Care Practice-Interest-Forum (PIF) with the Iowa Pharmacy Association. He is currently the Chair of the Programming Committee for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners.

Noelle R.M. Chapman,
Pharm.D., BCPS

Noelle R.M. Chapman, is currently
an Interim Pharmacy Manager at
Northwestern Memorial Hospital in
Chicago, Illinois. She received her
Pharm.D. from the University of Wisconsin
and completed a residency at
Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Since completing her residency,
Chapman has worked as a staff
pharmacist, clinical pharmacist, and
pharmacy coordinator prior to her current position. Her duties
are varied and have ranged from medicine team leader to central
pharmacy distribution supervisor to residency coordinator.
Chapman is an active member of ASHP, ICHP, and ACCP;
serves on the Northwestern P&T committee; and is adjunct
faculty at several schools of pharmacy. She has participated in
a number of studies and quality improvement projects, which
have lead to increased pharmacy clinical services at NMH.

Anthea V. Francis, RPh
Director, Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners

Anthea V. Francis, RPh currently serves as the Director, Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners for the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) located in Bethesda, Maryland. The mission of ASHP is to advance and support the professional practice of pharmacists in hospitals and health systems and serve as their collective voice on issues related to medication use and public health. Anthea’s role as Section Director of Inpatient Care Practitioners is to actively engage members in the development of educational programming, authoring of publications, advocating of sound policies and creation of innovative resources that are relevant to the frontline pharmacist specifically, and consistent with the overall vision of the organization.
Prior to coming to ASHP, Anthea practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Pediatric Pharmacy in Baltimore, Maryland. During her nineteen year tenure at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Anthea was involved in precepting pharmacy students, developing a point of care pharmacist practice for the Kennedy Krieger Institute and writing, implementing and assuring Kennedy Krieger’s successful compliance with and verbal commendation of the The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goal regarding medication reconciliation.
Anthea received Bachelor degrees in Zoology and Pharmacy in 1985 and 1988, respectively. Both degrees were granted from Howard University in Washington, DC. Upon completion of pharmacy school, Anthea pursued a general ASHP accredited residency from Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. This one year postgraduate training provided concentrated learning in practice areas such as Neonatology, Pharmacy Nutrition, Infectious Disease and Pharmacy Management.
Upper Marlboro, Maryland is home for Anthea and her husband of sixteen years, Maxwell, along with their three beautiful daughters: Noelle, Symonne and Gabrielle.
In her leisure time, Anthea enjoys reading, cooking, playing the piano, traveling and chatting with friends.
