ASHP has additional opportunities for students to get involved at the national level. Five advisory groups are chaired by a Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee (PSFEC) member.
Membership Advisory Group
- Promotes membership to students.
- Helps translate the value of ASHP membership to students in their earlier years of pharmacy school.
- Evaluates current ASHP student member benefits and services. Recommends changes, additions, or deletions.
- Promotes careers in health-system pharmacy and helps to disseminate health-system career information.
- Reaches out to pre-pharmacy students.

Meetings and Programming Advisory Group
- Reviews results of student programming evaluations and makes recommendations to ASHP.
- Creates new student programming ideas for the Midyear Clinical Meeting (MCM).
- Promotes and provides feedback regarding ASHP’s Personnel Placement Service (PPS) offered at the MCM.
- Promotes and provides feedback regarding ASHP’s Residency Showcase and Student Society Showcase offered at the MCM.

Policy and Legislative Affairs Advisory Group
- Creates awareness among students of pharmacy policy and legislation.
- Helps to educate student members about current government affairs issues of interest to ASHP.
- Helps educate student members about policy issues to be discussed at the ASHP House of Delegates.
- Provides guidance to the student delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates.

Student Society and Leadership Development Advisory Group
- Provides assistance to the Student Forum Executive Committee regarding outreach efforts to student leaders.
- Collects and shares fundraising ideas.
- Assists in the development of new student societies of health-system pharmacy.
- Makes recommendations regarding tools and resources for student societies of health-system pharmacy.
- Identifies and recruits up-and-coming student leaders for national leadership positions.

Communications Advisory Group
- Serves in an advisory capacity to the ASHP Web site and publications staff (provides feedback, participates in focus groups, etc.)
- Assists in the creation of content for the student section of the ASHP Web site.
- Provides feedback on ASHP electronic products and services.
- Monitors and shares advances in technology and anticipates pharmacy implications.

Each Advisory Groups is comprised of ten students in all professional years of pharmacy school, and communicate primarily via e-mail and conference call. Appointments are made by the Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee. The term of service for advisory group members is June through May.
Eligibility requirements:
- ASHP student member in good standing
- Enrolled in pharmacy school (e.g., rising P-1 through P-4 years)
