Below is a link to a training video intended for use by student societies of health-system pharmacy as a monthly meeting activity. Student societies may choose to use this to promote World Asthma Day which takes place each year on the first Tuesday in May. World Asthma Day 2006 falls on May 2nd. The video was produced by the Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Florida with ASHP member Dr. Leslie Hendeles. It demonstrates the proper technique to use when administering medications by various inhalation devices.
This training is intended to provide students with an understanding of many devices, some of which they may have yet to gain exposure to while on rotations or working as a pharmacy intern. After viewing the video, student society members may choose to practice what they’ve learned utilizing educational inhaler training devices (available upon request from ASHP, see below information) and/or follow up this training by conducting a project in the community, teaching patients proper inhaled device technique. This video may be used as a teaching tool for that purpose.
