(1) Representatives from print, broadcast, or electronic media outlet may receive complimentary press registration for ASHP meetings, subject to the following rules:
(a) Qualified media outlets include general circulation, pharmacy, health-care, and other trade publications as well as electronic, radio, television, and cable broadcasters.
(b) Qualified media representatives must be members of the news/editorial staff for their media outlets. Members of advertising, marketing, or executive staffs of media outlets and representatives of public relations or advertising agencies are not considered media representatives and will not be granted complimentary press registration.
(c) Media representatives may cover any educational or policy-making sessions open to regular meeting registrants.
(d) Media representatives attending the meeting on a complimentary press registration may not sell, market, or otherwise represent a company for the purpose of obtaining advertising or subscriptions. Such activities will result in loss of press credentials for this and subsequent meetings.
(e) All interviews with ASHP staff and officers should be scheduled through the ASHP Public Relations Division.
(2) Accepted methods to verify credentials are:
(a) Official publication or corporate business card with reporter’s name, title, e-mail address, corporate address and verifiable Web site,
(b) Copies of at least two (2) recent, relevant articles with byline,
(c) Copy of publication masthead with reporter’s name and title noted, or
(d) Letter from publication editor requesting credentials. Letter must be mailed or faxed and printed on publication letterhead with verifiable corporate address, phone number, and Web site.
(3) In consideration of granting of a press pass, credentialed reporters are asked to provide ASHP with copies of meeting-related content.
(4) In general, registrants are not permitted to make audio or videotapes of presentations. However, media representatives may record presentations for note-taking and reporting purposes or for broadcasting sound bites. Videotaping and filming of short segments for news purposes is allowed. Broadcasting extensive portions of presentations is prohibited, as is using or broadcasting such materials for profit. Recordings of some sessions may be available for purchase.
(5) Photographs of the meeting may be obtained through the ASHP Public Relations Division. If you wish to shoot your own, please use discretion in order not to interrupt the program in progress.
