Reason for the Shortage
- Bedford’s product is not available. The company had temporarily suspended manufacturing and distribution of all products while investigating a potential cross-contamination issue. The suspension was lifted the end of July, 2009.
- Pfizer states the shortage Zinecard was due to increased demand for product. Click on the following hyperlink for more information on this shortage and the new Zinecard presentations.
Estimated Resupply Dates
- Bedford has both presentations on back order and cannot estimate a release date.
- Pfizer has the Zinecard kits with diluent on back order and the company cannot estimate a release date. Zinecard is now available for direct drop shipment through wholesalers in 250 mg vials (NDC 00013-8717-62) and 500 mg vials (NDC 00013-8727-89). Pfizer will send diluent bags with each Zinecard order.
- Totect kit (10 x 500 mg vials) is available through Topotarget for treating extravasation injuries.
