Reason for the Shortage

• Elan states the shortage is due to supply and demand.
• Baxter states the shortage is due to a raw material problem.

Estimated Resupply Dates

• Elan has discontinued the 500 mg vials, 1 gram bottles, and 2 gram bottles. Their 1 gram and 2 gram vials are on back order. The company estimates a release date of the beginning of 2010.
• Baxter has frozen aztreonam available in 1 gram (NDC 51479-0048-01) and 2 gram (NDC 51479-0049-01) presentations.
