Reason for the Shortage
- Hospira’s Carpuject syringes are on back order due to increased demand for supplies.
- Purdue Pharma and Baxter could not provide a reason for the shortage.
Estimated Resupply Dates
- Purdue Pharma has all presentations of Dilaudid and Dilaudid HP available.
- Hospira has available several presentations of hydromorphone injection in Carpuject syringes, vials, and ampuls. The hydromorphone Carpuject syringes are available in the 1 mg/mL syringe (NDC 00409-1283-31), 2 mg/mL syringe (NDC 00409-1312-30), and 4 mg/mL syringe (NDC 00409-1304-31) presentations in limited supply.
- Baxter has available hydromorphone 2-mg/mL in 1 mL and 20 mL vials.
- Teva (formerly Barr) has their hydromorphone 10-mg/mL in 1 mL, 5 mL, and 50 mL vials on back order with an estimated release date of late-December, 2009.
