Reason for the Shortage
- Chlor-Trimeton is in short supply because Schering Plough is changing manufacturing locations.
- Avanthi received FDA approval to market over-the-counter (OTC) chlorpheniramine maleate in May 2009.
- Chlorpheniramine maleate is only available as an OTC product.
Estimated Resupply Dates
- Schering Plough has Chlor-Trimeton 4 hr tablets (NDC 11523-0080-01) available. Chlor-Trimeton 12 hour tablets are on back order and the company estimates a release date of early-February, 2010. All other Chlor-Trimeton products have been discontinued.
- Avanthi estimates their chlorpheniramine product will be available in mid-February, 2010.
