Reason for the Shortage
- Chlor-Trimeton is in short supply because Schering Plough is changing manufacturing locations.
- Avanthi received FDA approval to market over-the-counter (OTC) chlorpheniramine maleate in May 2009.
- Chlorpheniramine maleate is only available as an OTC product.
Estimated Resupply Dates
- Schering Plough estimates Chlor-Trimeton 12 hour will be unavailable until late, 2009. All other Chlor-Trimeton products have been discontinued.
- Avanthi estimates their chlorpheniramine product will be available in early-December, 2009.
