Reason for the Shortage

Apotex has halted manufacturing due to an FDA.
Ranbaxy has an FDA import ban on several of their products manufactured in India.
Dr. Reddy’s states their shortage is due to supply and demand issues.
Major, Marlex, Schering, Teva, UDL, and Westward are unable to provide a reason for their shortage.

Estimated Resupply Dates

Schering has available their Cipro tablets in 250 mg 100 count (NDC 00085-1758-01), 500 mg 100 count (NDC 00085-1754-01) and unit dose 100 count (NDC 00085-1754-02), and 750 mg 50 count (NDC 00085-1756-01) and unit dose 100 count (NDC 00085-1756-02) presentations. The 250 mg unit dose tablets are on back order and the company cannot estimate a release date.
Cobalt has all ciprofloxacin immediate-release tablets on back order including 250 mg 100 count, 500 mg 100 count and 750 mg 100 count presentations. The company is releasing supplies as they become available.
Teva has all presentations on back order and the company estimates a release date of mid-December, 2009.
UDL has ciprofloxacin immediate-release tablets in 250 mg unit dose 100 count and 500 mg unit dose tablets 100 count on back order and the company estimates a release date of mid-November, 2009.
Dr. Reddy’s and Westward have their ciprofloxacin immediate-release tablets on intermittent back order and are releasing product as it becomes available.
Major had their ciprofloxacin immediate-release tablets on back order and the company could not estimate a release date, however company representatives were not available to provide updated availability information.
Marlex has their ciprofloxacin immediate-release tablets in 500 mg 100 count on back order and the company estimates a release date of late-November, 2009.
