Fluticasone Propionate HFA Inhaler
26 April 2006
Estimated Resupply Dates
GlaxoSmithKline is shipping product and filling backorders for the 44 mcg and 110 mcg strengths of Flovent HFA. The 220 mcg size is on backorder and the company cannot estimate a release date. Intermittent supply shortages have occurred because GlaxoSmithKline was having difficulty meeting the demand for Flovent HFA due to a raw material shortage. Pharmacies should continue to place orders through their wholesalers, as orders are filled according to request date. Flovent with CFC propellant has been phased out and replaced with Flovent HFA. The new NDC numbers for the Flovent HFA formulations are: 44 mcg ( 00173-0718-00), 110 mcg (00173-0719-00), and 220 mcg (00173-0720-00). All metered dose inhalers containing CFC propellant must be withdrawn from the market by December 31, 2008. See http://www.fda.gov/cder/mdi/mdifaqs.htm for more details regarding this issue.
