Diphenhydramine injection, 50 mg/mL
Reason for the Shortage
- Hospira, Baxter, and Bioniche Pharma were unable to provide a reason for the shortage.
- APP stated that the shortage was due to supply and demand.
- Pfizer discontinued all Benadryl injection in 2005.
- IMS discontinued diphenhydramine injection in April 2008.
Estimated Resupply Dates
- Hospira has all presentations of their diphenhydramine injection available including 1 mL Carpuject syringes (NDC 00409-2290-31) and 1 mL iSecure prefilled syringes (NDC 00409-2290-11).
- Baxter has their diphenhydramine 50 mg/mL injection available in a 1 mL vial (NDC 00641-0376-25).
- APP has their diphenhydramine 50 mg/mL injection available in a 1 mL vial (NDC 63323-0664-01).
- Bioniche Pharma has their diphenhydramine 50 mg/mL injection available in a 10 mL vial (NDC 67457-0124-10).
