Registrants may earn up to 36.75 contact hours (3.675 CEUs) at the 44th ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition.

All attendees must record their CE online at http://ce.ashp.org or obtain a paper CE Form from ASHP Meeting Info at the meeting.  Pre-registrants and onsite registrants processing their CE online will be able to print out their CE statement immediately. If you have any issues, please stop by ASHP Meeting Info for assistance.

Midyear Clinical Meeting education sessions are a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)-accepted method for certified pharmacy technicians to obtain CE credit.  Those programs appropriate for technicians are designated with a “T” following the ACPE number.  Contact PTCB at 202-429-7576 for further information.

ACPESome states have special requirements for program content to meet state requirements for continuing education.  Please check with your state to determine if such requirements exist and to determine if these programs meet those requirements.

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

New ACPE Accreditation Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education

ACPE’s Accreditation Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education took effect January 1, 2009.  In keeping with these new Standards, educational sessions are structured to meet either the knowledge- or application-based educational needs of pharmacists and/or technicians. Knowledge-based sessions are designed primarily for acquiring factual knowledge; application-based sessions, primarily to apply the information learned in the time frame allotted.

Other changes in educational programming:

  • Active Learning - Active learning, a basic principle and best practice in adult learning, means less lecture and more active participation, including interaction with faculty and other participants to improve learning, retention, and application of new knowledge and skills.  Even in the large sessions, you’ll notice faculty using innovative instructional techniques intended to engage you more fully as a learner.
  • Learning Assessments and Feedback - The Standards call for learning assessments to be part of every activity, and we’re building these assessments and mechanisms for feedback to participants into all of our CE sessions.
  • Evaluations - ACPE’s Standards require providers to develop and conduct evaluations of each CE activity.  Beyond this stated requirement, your feedback is important to us for evaluating achievement of the learning objectives, quality of faculty, effectiveness of teaching methods and materials, and perceptions of commercial bias.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

An approach to lifelong learning, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a process of active participation in learning activities geared to helping individuals develop and maintain continuing competence, enhance their professional practice, and support achievement of their career goals. CPD emphasizes self-appraisal and educational plan development, implementation, documentation, and evaluation. CE sessions or other activities you participate in at the Meeting may form part of your own CPD self-appraisal or plan.
