Clinical Skills Competition Semi-Final Round
In partnership with the ASHP Research and Education Foundation and the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum.
It’s the battle of the best and brightest. Winning teams from the Preliminary Round (school-level) competitions at each college of pharmacy will compete in the semi-final round at the national level, showcasing their clinical skills and knowledge. The Semi-Final round is a closed session and competitors should plan to arrive in Las Vegas no later than Friday evening, December 4.

Preparing for the Pharmacy Board Exam? We’ve got the workshop for you! Ask around—faculty, advisors, and workshop alum will all agree that this is the “must attend” board review of the year. The editors of ASHP’s PharmPrep Interactive Case-Based Board Review bring the text to life at a full-day workshop to help you prepare for the board examination to become a licensed pharmacist. The workshop will incorporate evidence-based approaches to decision making and important disease states you are likely to encounter on the board exam.

Pharmacy Student Forum Opening Session
Join your fellow ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum members, leadership, staff and, of course, your 2009-10 Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee to kick off the meeting! Come learn about all that ASHP has to offer and how you can tap into the resources at your fingertips. Interested in a national leadership position? How about a rotation or internship at headquarters? Looking for a mentor? Need some funds to kick-start an SSHP at your school? Well, this is the session for you! The MCM student programming and activities will be reviewed to help you prepare for the week. Plus, the top ten finalist teams of the 13th Annual ASHP National Clinical Skills Competition will be announced. Don’t miss it!

Student Reception
After a long day it’s time to kick back with old and new friends from across the United States and around the world. Enjoy some music, munchies, and a cash bar for those of age. Oh yeah, you don’t want to miss your chance to win some great door prizes including a complimentary registration to the 2010 ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting! Stick around to cheer on your favorite in the Clinical Skills Competition—winners will be announced before the evening is over! Please note: this year the reception will be held in conjunction with the Student Society Showcase.

Student Society Showcase
New this year! All Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacy (SSHPs), including those who were awarded official ASHP Recognition in 2009, are invited to spotlight their achievements. Take this opportunity to share best practices with SSHP members from across the nation to help them reapply your successful event on their campus! Please note, this year the showcase will be held in conjunction with the Student Reception.

Best Practices Award Reception
This poster reception will honor the awardees of the 2009 ASHP Best Practices Award in Health-System Pharmacy. The six awardees will present posters of their programs that have been nationally recognized to demonstrate best practices in health-system pharmacy, especially in those areas that significantly improve the quality of patient care. Join us in honoring the award recipients and discussing the programs with them.

Opening Session featuring Presidential Address and Keynote Speaker, Dennis Quaid
Widely acclaimed as one of the most charismatic actors of our time, Dennis Quaid is also an advocate for reducing medical errors. In his keynote address to ASHP, Quaid will tell how he and his wife, Kimberly, became motivated to launch The Quaid Foundation, an organization whose mission is to help minimize the impact of human error in patient medical care.

To make the most of the residency showcase remember to view the listing of programs and sites participating before you arrive at the MCM! Participating sites will only be represented during ONE of the three sessions of the showcase so be sure you know when your programs of interest will be there! Business dress is recommended.
