Are you a Delegate with three or more years of ASHP HOD experience?

Are you are a seasoned practitioner with expertise in leadership, informatics, or clinical pharmacy?

The profession needs you! Please consider volunteering as a mentor in the Mentoring Emerging Leaders program.

How does it work?

Mentors are placed in one of two categories:

1. ASHP Governance Leaders: Shadow a Delegate
2. ASHP Expert Leaders: Shadow a Seasoned Practitioner (Informatics, Leadership, Clinical)

Mentors will be assigned one or more mentees who would like the benefit of your perspective as a delegate and/or expert.  ASHP will provide you with a “Mentoring Emerging Leaders Guide” to ensure a successful experience.

As a mentor in this part of the Mentoring Emerging Leaders program, you’ll:

1. Contact your mentee(s) prior to the meeting to help them prepare.
2. Meet your mentee(s) at the Mentoring Emerging Leaders Kick-off Reception (Saturday).
3. Attend the Mentoring Emerging Leaders Table Topics Session (Sunday).
4. Arrange a time to meet with your mentee(s) in the Mentoring Emerging Leaders Lounge or elsewhere to discuss their career goals, get to know one or more members of the up-and-coming pharmacy leadership force and answer their questions.
5. DELEGATES ONLY: Meet with your mentee(s) before and after each House of Delegates activity to discuss such issues as:  what you did to prepare for the session, what issues are important to you, why and what you are doing about them.  In addition, learn what is important to your mentee(s) by discussing why they are interested in the governance process, what issues concern them the most and answering their questions.
6. EXPERTS ONLY: Invite your mentee(s) to join you as you attend the Summer Meeting learning community or series in your area of expertise: Pharmacy Leadership, Pharmacy Informatics, or Clinical Pharmacy. Outside the sessions discuss both your own and your mentees’ thoughts on the program and how the material can be applied.
