Special ASHP Summer Meeting Weekend Session
Calling all up-and-coming leaders in the profession of pharmacy! Don't miss this opportunity to shape your future and prepare you to shape the future of pharmacy. Join us for the second annual Pharmacy Student Leadership Development Program at the 2010 ASHP Summer Meeting. Become immersed in the key issues impacting the changing landscape of pharmacy and meet the people who are leading the charge. Soon these leaders will be passing the torch to you and we want to make sure you are prepared. Sound like a lot to handle? Don't worry -- all student attendees will automatically be paired up with a seasoned practitioner to help guide the way in through the new, "Mentoring Emerging Leaders" program. Come represent your peers and earn a certificate of participation.

New to the Summer Meeting? Come out to hear how you can maximize your SM10 experience. Learn about the innovative new programs -- Mentoring Emerging Leaders and Pharmacy Student Leadership Development – and gather some intel on all the places-to-be throughout the meeting from the House of Delegates to CE session, receptions and more!

Navigating the ASHP Policy Process
This session covers the "How-To's" for ASHP politicos! If you have a desire to move up the ladder or shake up the status quo, don't miss out on this opportunity. ASHP student members are empowered to get involved in our policy process. Come learn how it all works and what to expect as the 2010 ASHP Summer Meeting unfolds. We will cover some of the hot topics that will come up at the House of Delegates so, if you want to be in the know, attend this session!

Open Forum for Members
Come one, come all, and let your voices be heard. With the first meeting of the 2010 House of Delegates less than 24 hours away, this is an opportunity for ASHP members to bring emerging issues to the attention of ASHP leaders. Items scheduled for action by the House as well as any matter of concern to ASHP members related to pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems may be discussed.

SSHP Leaders and Faculty Advisors Workshop
Are you a current officer of faculty advisor in your Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy (SSHP)? If so, please plan to join other student leaders from across the nation to network, share, and reapply best practices from fundraising to programming.

Delegate Primer on House of Delegates Processes
This orientation and refresher session is for delegates and others interested in better understanding the operation of the ASHP House of Delegates. Topics to be covered include basic parliamentary procedures and ASHP processes. Attendees will have the opportunity to "role play" a brief mock House of Delegates meeting and discuss process issues. This session is highly recommended for first-timers – Don't miss it!

Mentoring Emerging Leaders Kick-Off Reception
All student attendees are encouraged to take part in the kick-off event of the ASHP SM10, "Mentoring Emerging Leaders" program. Ever hear the saying, "It's not only what you know, but who you know"? Join the other pharmacy students, new practitioners and leaders in our profession to start building your professional network. Mingle with current up-and-coming leaders in your profession (yep, that includes you). Bring some business cards so you can exchange contact information!

Pharmacy Student Leadership Development Workshop
Calling all future leaders in the profession of pharmacy! This is the must-attend workshop of the year...and hopefully one of the most important reasons you decided to come to the 2010 ASHP Summer Meeting. This interactive workshop will expose you to the state of our profession and open your eyes to leadership opportunities that await you. Learn practical ways to incorporate leadership into your professional life and start building an impressive CV! A certificate of completion will be awarded to those who attend.
Note: This session includes a break from 11:20 – 12:30 for lunch on your own. Attendance at the Pharmacy Student Caucus is encouraged.

Pharmacy Student Caucus
Not a delegate just yet but still want to be in on the action? Come to the Pharmacy Student Caucus and let your voice be heard by your student delegate (the Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum executive committee) and by the immediate past Chair of the ASHP House of Delegates. This is your chance to review the policy proposals with your peers and discuss your recommendations for amendments before the House of Delegates meeting at 2:00pm.

First Meeting of the ASHP House of Delegates
Come witness your future in the making! You've learned how to navigate the ASHP policy process, attended the Delegate Primer, Open Forum, and Caucuses, and now it is here – the first meeting of the 2010 House of Delegates! This is where ASHP professional policies are established and you can witness the action. Special seating will be reserved for students to observe the proceedings. The Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee will be representing you on the floor!

Mentoring Emerging Leaders Table Topics
It's like speed dating…without the date! Seasoned practitioners who have a knack for mentoring will join our emerging leaders to tackle some interesting topics to help you grow as a pharmacy professional.

ASHP Summer Meeting Grand Opening Reception
Whew! After a long two days, take a break and stop by the exhibit hall to enjoy some time to mingle with pharmacy managers, network with new practitioners, recharge with residency directors, small talk with staff, and unwind with the upper crust of your profession. You might want to make use of those shiny new business cards you brought along– don't miss this chance to introduce yourself to the pharmacists who make things happen in your profession.
