Enjoy an elegant evening in the company of your colleagues as we honor the recipient of the Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture Award, Paul W. Abramowitz, PharmD, FASHP.
The most prestigious honor awarded in health-system pharmacy, the Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture Award is presented annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to health-system pharmacy practice.
Seating is reserved and coupons must be exchanged for table selection by 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15 at the Customer Relations counter in Staffed Registration. Additional tickets may be purchased in the Staffed Registration area. Tickets are $85 and nonrefundable. Attire is evening formal, black tie optional.
Paul W. Abramowitz, PharmD, FASHP, is Interim Hospital Associate Director for Professional Services and Chief Pharmacy Officer at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics; he is also Professor and Assistant Dean at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. Previously, he served as Director of Pharmacy at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals and the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics. At both of their colleges of pharmacy, he was a faculty member.
Dr. Abramowitz currently serves as the Treasurer of ASHP and has served as ASHP President (1993-1994). He has chaired the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, the UHC Pharmacy Council, and the Board of Directors of the Iowa Statewide Poison Control Center.
Throughout his career, Dr. Abramowitz has actively combined practice, teaching, and research, and has published extensively focusing on the impact that quality pharmaceutical care can have on improving outcomes of care and reducing costs, reduction of adverse drug events, development of continuity of care models between sites of care, and redesign of pharmacy services.
Dr. Abramowitz received his Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Toledo, his PharmD from the University of Michigan, and completed his residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He was a recipient of the John. W. Webb Lecture Award in 2000.
