Augmented Reality with AJHP

AJHP is implementing a technology called Augmented Reality (AR) starting with its July 1, 2014, issue. AR is a way to view digital content that has been superimposed onto print pages. Readers can download a free app—Layar—to their smartphone or tablet and use it to scan printed pages that include the Layar logo. AR will allow readers to share article abstracts on social media sites, instantly send e-mails to article authors, and quickly access related materials that are not in the printed issue, such as author interviews on AJHP Voices and author-supplied data supplements or videos. AR will also allow readers to view ahead-of-print articles, send e-mails to AJHP editors and contributing editors, and contact AJHP advertising sales representatives and ASHP customer service.

AR is the latest feature in keeping AJHP the most electronically enhanced journal in pharmacy. To experience augmented reality for yourself, download the AR app from Layar and give it a try.

How Does it Work

  1. Download the AR app from Layar to your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Launch the app and scan the pages that contains the Layar logo.
