BETHESDA, MD 08 July 2010—A continuing internal review by McNeil Consumer Healthcare has resulted in the company announcing today the recall of 21 more lots of nonprescription products.
The products in those lots were produced before the earlier recall, the company said, and had packaging material that had been shipped and stored on the same type of chemical-tainted wooden pallet responsible for that recall on January 15.
Today's recall pertains to Benadryl Allergy Ultratab tablets, Children's Tylenol Meltaways, Motrin tablets and caplets, Tylenol Extra Strength tablets, caplets, and gel caps, and Tylenol PM caplets, gel caps, and gel tablets.
Consumers who purchased product from the lots in this recall are being told to stop using the product and follow the company's instructions to obtain a refund or replacement. These instructions are available online or by calling 1-888-222-6036, Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
McNeil said that after issuing the recall on January 15, the company stopped accepting shipments of materials on wooden pallets treated with 2,4,6-tribromoanisole, which has a musty smell.
