Advocacy Campaign to Kick-Off at ASHP Summer Meeting
6/4/2008
ASHP is embarking on a campaign to make sure that legislators hear health-system pharmacists’ perspective on important healthcare issues during the election season.
The Society is launching the “Make a Date with Congress” campaign at next week’s Summer Meeting in Seattle to connect ASHP members with their congressional representatives during Congress’ upcoming August recess.
Using a link from the ASHP Grassroots Advocacy Center, members can send an e-mail inviting legislators to get the pharmacist's view on important healthcare issues during a meeting in the legislator’s district office, a town hall meeting, or an on-site tour of the pharmacy department.
The meetings will lay the foundation for an ongoing relationship with legislators and their staffs and will support ASHP’s advocacy initiatives.
Background information to prepare the meetings with legislators is available at www.ashp.org/congress and tips for having a successful meeting are also online at www.ashp.org/hill_visit.
To participate in the campaign, log onto the Grassroots Advocacy Center using your member id number and password and follow the instructions on the page.http://vocusgr.vocus.com/vocusgr/WebPublish/Controller.aspx?SiteName=ASHP&Definition=ViewIssue&IssueID=8656
