ASHP Waives Membership Dues for Members Affected by Hurricane Ike

Membership Will be Automatically Renewed for Members in Affected Counties

ASHP is waiving membership dues for its members in counties designated by the Federal Emergency Management Authority (FEMA) as disaster counties eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance Program.

The waiver, which applies to members in Texas and Louisiana , affects more than 500 ASHP members. Under the program, the Society will renew memberships at no charge for members in these counties whose renewals occur in December 2008 extending their membership through 2009.

“This was an easy call,” said ASHP President Kevin J. Colgan, “Our members shouldn’t have to worry about their membership lapsing with so many other pressing matters at hand.”  

In addition, the Society also provided a 100 percent match for the more than $2,300 donated by staff members to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Ike relief efforts.
