ASHP Urges Calif. Legislators to Pass Technician Bill

The Society, in collaboration with the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP), recently wrote to the chair of the California State Assembly’s Business and Professions Committee seeking support for AB 418, the California Pharmacy Technician Patient Safety and Protection Act. The proposed legislation would set minimum standards for pharmacy technicians’ education and training.

CSHP is one of 18 ASHP state affiliates that has partnered with ASHP on the Society’s Pharmacy Technician Initiative. The initiative, which is part of the ASHP’s advocacy efforts, calls for state laws that require completion of ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training and certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
