Ask Congress to Restore Funding for PGY2 Residencies in Health Care Reform Bills
7/24/2009
You can help determine the outcome of the debates on health reform, by urging your congressional representatives to restore funding for postgraduate year two (PGY2) residency programs.
Although health care reform bills in the House and Senate currently contain provisions that enhance medication therapy management, restoration of specialized second-year residency programs (PGY2) is not included. Use the resources on ASHP’s online ASHP Advocacy Center to contact your senators and representative and ask for their support for these important programs.
To contact your representatives, log onto the Grassroots Advocacy Center using your member id number and password and follow the instructions on the page. You can adapt the sample e-mails provided to share the impact of the lack of PGY2 funding on your practice site.
