Conference Objectives

The educational programs were developed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of residency program directors and preceptors through instruction on important issues in postgraduate pharmacy residency training and preceptor development.  The educational goal of this meeting is to provide preceptors with instruction on a variety of topics to enhance the training of pharmacy residents, to provide increased skills in developing preceptors, and to provide guidance in complying with standards used in postgraduate pharmacy residency training. 

Who Should Attend

Residency program directors and preceptors (both current and prospective), deans of schools of pharmacy, directors of pharmacy, pharmacy residents, and others who are interested in learning about innovations and preceptor development in postgraduate pharmacy residency training. 

Continuing Education

Attendees may earn up to 13.25 (1.3 CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education credit at the 2008 ASHP National Residency Preceptors Conference.  Pre-conference workshops attendees will earn an additional 8 contact hours (.8 CEUs) continuing education credit.  Participants should apply for credit only for the hours they attended.  All attendees must complete an online CE Request Form after the meeting and print their original Statement of CE Credit immediately.  Instructions to process CE online will be provided onsite to all attendees. 

ASHP Foundation Accepting Applications to Pharmacy Residency Excellence Awards

The ASHP Foundation is currently accepting applications for the 2008 Pharmacy Residency Excellence Awards. The program, supported by Amgen, Inc., honors excellence and leadership in the training and mentoring of pharmacy residents. Three awards are offered – the Preceptor Award, New Preceptor Award, and Program Award. These awards recognize the achievements of residency programs and practitioners who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in the training of pharmacy residents. American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as an approved provider of continuing pharmacy education.
