Residency Learning System (RLS) — The Next Generation
Program #204-000-05-285-L04P (8.0 Contact Hours)

Residency program directors learn how to meet the new accreditation standards for a system-based approach to the design, delivery, and evaluation of training. Participants learn how to apply direct observation to assess resident performance as they develop skills for making and recording criteria-based judgments. Emphasis is placed on providing written feedback that enhances resident learning and documents resident progress for program directors and others on the residency preceptor team.

You must select one of the following areas when registering:

  • New Residency Program/Postgraduate Year 1 (Limited to the first 66 registrants
  • Existing Residency Program/Postgraduate Year 1 (Limited to the first 72 registrants)
  • Specialized Residency Program / Postgraduate Year 2 (New and Existing) (Limited to the first 54 registrants)

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the structural changes needed for a program to be in compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Explain the COC’s expectations for survey responses.
  • Correctly complete the revised pre-survey forms.
  • Describe what the commission is looking for in response to areas of non- or partial compliance.

Residency Learning System for Community Practice Residencies (CPRLS)
Program #204-000-06-091-L04 (8.0 contact hours)
(Limited to the first 25 registrants)

Residency program directors and preceptors can use this systematic approach to design and deliver community care pharmacy practice residency training to enhance the quality of existing or start-up programs. Pre-readings will prepare attendees to participate in simulation of the design of a program using the ASHP Residency Learning System (RLS) Model. The workshop includes hands-on experience in applying direct observation to assess resident performance.

Registrants will be e-mailed applicable study materials to read before the workshop. Room assignments will be emailed during the first week of August. Please provide your email address on the registration form.
