Continuing Education
How do I request CE for the educational sessions I attend at the convention center?
Go to Requesting CE for ASHP Meetings. This document will give you all the information you will need to submit your CE online. If you don't want to go online and would prefer a paper form, go to Information Central at the meeting and ask for a CE Request Form. Paper forms can be submitted at Information Central. Please note: CE Session Codes are still needed for paper forms and CE Session Code Tracking Form will not be accepted in lieu of a CE Request Form.
Why do I need a CE Session Code? Why can't I just submit the names of the sessions I attended?
ACPE requires that we validate attendance in sessions offering CE. This is the easiest, most time and cost efficient way of doing this at the present time.
I attended a session held at a hotel. I want to get CE for it but can't find it in the ASHP CE Request Center. How can I get CE credit?
ASHP does not provide CE Credit for industry-sponsored symposia, which are held at hotels. The sponsors of the event may have arranged to provide for CE credit through another ACPE accredited organization. Information on how to obtain CE should be given out at the session. Consult the symposia listing for contact information.
Can Pharmacy Technicians get CE Credit?
Yes. Educational programs at the Summer Meeting are a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) acceptable method for certified pharmacy technicians to obtain CE credit. A Continuing Education Documentation Form for Certified Pharmacy Technicians is available at Information Central. Any ASHP staff member can sign the form to verify attendance. Please submit the completed form to PTCB.
Can I get CE credit for visiting the posters?
No. Because we present more than one topic at a time in our poster sessions they do not fit the ACPE requirements for CE credit.
Educational Sessions
Can I attend just one session of a Learning Community?
Yes. However, the concept of the Learning Community is to build skills through active participation. The ASHP 2008 Summer Meeting Learning Community is comprised of six sessions, each building upon the previous one. If you join the Learning Community already in progress you may not get the full benefit from the experience.
Can I get extra copies of the Learning Community handouts to take back to my staff?
After the last session of the Learning Community all remaining handouts will be given away. Depending on the quantity left over they will either be outside the Learning Community meeting room.
How can I tell if a presenter has anything to disclose?
Disclosures for educational session speakers and faculty will be printed in the Program. Disclosures for poster presenters will be displayed on their poster.
Posters
How can I submit a poster for presentation at the Summer Meeting?
To submit a poster abstract for consideration go to "Get Involved in a Meeting". Please read Poster Rules and Format Guidelines (PDF) first and then click on "Poster Submission" to submit to enter the submission Website.
