Reason for the Shortage

  • Ben Venue has stopped production in its plant in Bedford, Ohio and will close in 2014. Ben Venue supplies multiple sterile injectable products for Bedford Laboratories. Bedford Laboratories has a small number of products manufactured elsewhere that are not affected by this closure.
  • Fresenius Kabi had propranolol injection available but with short-expiration dating.
  • Sandoz cannot provide a reason for the shortage.
  • West-Ward has propranolol injection on shortage due to manufacturing delays.

  • Bedford has propranolol 1 mg/mL 1 mL vials on long term back order. Ben Venue manufactured propranolol injection for Bedford.
  • Sandoz has propranolol 1 mg/mL 1 mL vials temporarily unavailable and the company cannot estimate a new production date.
  • West-Ward has propranolol 1 mg/mL 1 mL vials available on allocation.
