It’s vital that steps are taken now to make an impact on the ongoing drug shortages crisis, ASHP CEO Paul W. Abramowitz, Pharm.D., FASHP, said in an editorial in the March 15 issue of Drug Topics.

Quick passage of legislation implementing an early warning system and continuity- of-supply plans is essential to solving the crisis Abramowitz says. He also calls for research to assess the impact of other potential causes of drug shortages, including economic factors.
