Ten national pharmacy groups, including ASHP, responded to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) position paper on the role of pharmacists.

The pharmacy organizations provided perspectives on a variety of views expressed in the paper about contemporary pharmacy practice, and the ways that pharmacists and physicians collaborate on health care teams. As one example, the pharmacy organizations stated that “we believe it is important to describe the actual collaborations that occur every day between pharmacists and physicians in every state, which far transcend the simplistic characterization of pharmacists dispensing the prescription written by the physician.”
