Rural Health Educational Track Continues to Explore Areas to Impact and Discusses Success Stories

For the seventh consecutive year, the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners' Section Advisory Group's (SAG) on Small and Rural Hospitals will host its Programming for Small and Rural Hospitals. Scheduled for Sunday, December 2nd, 8am-5:15pm, this entire day of educational programming is dedicated to healthcare issues relevant to pharmacists who practice in rural and frontier areas of the country. The session and speaker line up for the 2012 rural track will be as impressive as it has been in previous years. The keynote address will be given by Mr. Lance W. Keilers, current administrator of Ballinger Memorial Hospital in Ballinger, Texas and the Regional Cancer Treatment Center in San Angelo, Texas. Mr. Keilers will deliver a powerful lecture on different ways to increase the pharmacist's role in small and rural hospitals. Other session topics include survival tactics for drug shortages; clinical updates on how to manage chronic diseases in small and/or rural acute care settings; success stories on the implementation of PPMI in small in rural hospitals; assessing whether your small and rural hospital settings can benefit from remote pharmacy services; accomplishments of small and rural hospitals, and quality measures that impact rural healthcare settings. Participants are also encouraged to return Monday morning, immediately following the Opening General Session, for the electrifying networking session, also hosted by the SAG. Join your fellow colleagues for a robust discourse on hot topic issues facing small and rural healthcare institutions.
