A mission statement is a vision of what the organization is and who it serves. The statement is usually only one or two paragraphs and should be broad enough to allow your chapter to increase its goals and services without outgrowing its mission for many years. To use as a guide, below is the ASHP mission statement which many chapters use as a starting point:

ASHP believes that the mission of pharmacists is to help people make the best use of medications.

The mission of ASHP is to advance and support the professional practice of pharmacists in hospitals and health systems and serve as their collective voice on issues related to medication use and public health.
