ASHP Task Force on Racial Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Racial Diversity, Equity, and racial Inclusion Task Force

About the Task Force

The ASHP Board of Directors convened the ASHP Task Force on Racial Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in June 2020 amid the national reckoning around racial and social justice. The task force was asked to assess ASHP's efforts in the areas of racial diversity, equity, and inclusion as they relate to issues facing Black Americans and to develop actionable and sustainable recommendations relating to ASHP’s mission.

About the Recommendations

The task force recommendations explore new or enhanced efforts ASHP should undertake in three focus areas: (1) governance and committees; (2) education and training, research, and publications; and (3) advocacy, marketing, and communications. The recommendations address several target audiences, including ASHP, colleges of pharmacy, ASHP-accredited residency programs, and hospitals and health systems.

ASHP staff are now engaged in a collaborative, organization-wide effort to implement the task force recommendations and will provide progress reports to the Board of Directors and membership at large.
