Protect Funding for Pharmacy Residency Programs

We need your help to protect funding for pharmacy residency programs. Arbitrary and inconsistent penalties imposed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) are putting residency funding in jeopardy.
Funding for pharmacy residency programs is in jeopardy due to the arbitrary and inconsistent application of cost-reporting requirements by contractors who audit pharmacy residency programs on behalf of CMS.
ASHP recently asked CMS to suspend disallowances related to this issue and provide technical assistance so that pharmacy residency programs know what they need to do to comply with the agency's cost accounting processes.
Here’s What You Can Do
We need your help to ensure that every member of Congress knows the importance of pharmacy residency programs to the healthcare system.
1. Send an email to your members of Congress. Please personalize the provided email with examples of the ways pharmacy residents contribute to the healthcare team at your organization and how the loss of federal funding for these programs would affect patient care.
2. Ask colleagues at your practice site to join you. Every voice counts!
3. Brief your organization’s administration and Government Relations staff on the issue.
