Chair Message November 2018

November 2018

The time is near! A time for thousands of students, residents, technicians, pharmacists, researchers, and others to gather – from across the country and across the globe – to share ideas, connect, and learn from each other!

The Midyear Clinical Meeting provides exceptional opportunities for continuing education, including hours of Board Certification recertification credit for all recognized specialties. Check out this listing for all educational sessions and start planning your meeting. There’s something for everyone!

Additionally, don’t miss the wide array of networking sessions hosted by our Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists (SCSS) Network Facilitators. We are excited to continue the combined networking and poster sessions on Sunday, December 2nd. These sessions will provide an opportunity to meet others who practice or are interested in a specific specialty and to learn about up-and-coming research in the same area:

If you are unable to make the trek to Anaheim for the live meeting, our network facilitators will be summarizing the discussions and posting on ASHP Connect where you can continue the conversation.

Did you know that the ASHP Foundation is celebrating its 50th year? The ASHP Foundation does an incredible amount of work to promote our profession including the safe and effective use of medications for our patients, provides practice resources for members and sponsors the ASHP Best Practices Award. They will be celebrating in high fashion at their Golden Anniversary Reception prior to the Midyear Music Festival so we hope to see you there!

I also encourage each of you to try to attend the ASHP PAC luncheon and make sure to RSVP because a ticket is required for this event. Even if you cannot attend, I encourage you to make a donation as the PAC is a way for ASHP members to combine our resources to support pharmacy-friendly congressional candidates!  ASHP is a large organization, but it still needs the help of each individual member to accomplish the goals set forth to achieve everything we can be in our profession.

Please let us know if you have questions or feedback on how the Section can help support your needs at sections@ashp.org.

Have a great, safe day!
