Alternative Agents & Management

    • Reserve small volume bags for medication preparation. Use larger volumes (1 liter) for all other uses including starting intravenous lines, administering blood, or flushing.
    • Work with materials management departments to transfer supplies of small volume bags to pharmacy.
    • Review current compounding and switch to IV push or premixed products whenever possible.
