Ashley Duty

2019 Distinguished Service Award Winner

Ashley Duty is Clinical Pharmacy Operations Manager at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri where she is responsible for 23 pharmacists in general medicine and hematology/oncology, as well as for USP Chapter <797> and USP Chapter <800> oversight for all sterile compounding operations. She also serves as the staffing preceptor and a mentor for the accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residencies.

Dr. Duty received her Pharm.D. from the Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University, and an MS in Health-System Pharmacy Administration degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. She completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration residency at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Duty’s professional interests include sterile compounding operations, medication safety, and informatics. She is also very passionate about leadership development. In 2019, she served as a planner and presenter for both the PTCB-recognized ASHP Sterile Product Preparation Certificate and the Compounded Sterile Products Certificate for Pharmacists. She also drafted the ASHP Statement on Use of Social Media by Pharmacy Professionals.

Within ASHP, Dr. Duty is currently a member of the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders Advisory Group on New and Emerging Leaders. Previously she served on advisory groups as Vice Chair, then Chair of the New Practitioners Forum, as well as Vice Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee. On the local level, Dr. Duty is President-Elect for the Greater Kansas City Society of Health-System Pharmacists (GKCSHP). She previously served as Membership Chair and Programs Chair for GKCSHP.
