Joshua Fleming

2018 Distinguished Service Award Winner

Joshua Fleming is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Mississippi (UM) School of Pharmacy in Jackson. In his role with the School of Pharmacy, Fleming serves as the Director of the PGY2 ambulatory care residency Program, and maintains an active clinical practice in the University of Mississippi Medical Center Pediatric and Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinics.

Fleming earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He then completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Lillington, North Carolina, and a PGY2 ambulatory care residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Fleming has maintained active involvement in ASHP throughout his residency and early career. His involvement has included service on advisory groups for the New Practitioners Forum and Vice Chair, then Chair of the New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee. He also served as a member of the Joint Sections and Forums Practice Advancement Initiatives Committee. Fleming’s current involvement with ASHP includes service as a House of Delegates representative for Mississippi, reviewer for AJHP and member of multiple review committees for the ASHP Foundation. At the state level, Fleming has been involved with the Mississippi Society of Health System Pharmacists (MSHP) serving as the Senior Delegate and Student Relations Chair. In addition, he serves on the Education Committee and the PAI Task Force. In 2014, he received the MSHP Service Award, and in 2016, he received the MSHP Outstanding Pharmacist of the Year Award. Within the UM School of Pharmacy, Fleming serves as the SSHP Advisor for the Jackson Campus. In 2017, he was inducted into the University of Mississippi Medical Center Nelson Order for Excellence in Teaching and received the IPPE Preceptor of the Year Award.
