Kristi K. Gullickson

2023 Distinguished Service Award Winner

Kristine (Kristi) K. Gullickson is the director of pharmacy at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Gullickson leads hospital inpatient, infusion, and ambulatory pharmacy services with additional system-level responsibility for pharmacy operations and oncology at Allina Health. She is the residency program director for the hospital’s HSPAL PGY2 residency program and actively precepts residents and leadership students. Throughout her 30-year career, Gullickson has contributed to advancing practice at site, system and state-levels through professional advocacy, collaboration, and empowering leaders and teams.

Gullickson received her BS in pharmacy and PharmD from North Dakota State University. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and earned a diploma from the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy. She received her MBA in healthcare administration from New England College.

Gullickson has served ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL) in a variety of capacities, including roles as chair and director-at-large of the Section Executive Committee and faculty member for the Manager Boot Camp. She has also served on multiple SPPL Section Advisory Groups, including Multi-Hospital Executive, Business of the Pharmacy Enterprise, Quality & Compliance, and Communications and Publications. Gullickson has served ASHP as chair of the Council on Pharmacy Practice; alternate member, Committee on Nominations; multi-year member, House of Delegates; contributor, ASHP Leadership Basics Certificate; ASHP expert panel member for the ASHP Guidelines on Preventing Diversion of Controlled Substances and the ASHP/APhA Medication Management in Care Transitions project.

Gullickson has presented on a variety of topics including leadership development, business of pharmacy, practice innovation, high reliability cultures, and care transitions. She is a past president of the Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and currently represents MSHP on the Minnesota Pharmacy Alliance (MPA) practice advocacy group. Gullickson also serves the profession as director-at-large on the Vizient Pharmacy Network Executive Committee and is past chair of the Minnesota Hospital Association Medication Safety Committee. She is a Fellow of ASHP and MSHP and was awarded the Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) Hallie Bruce Memorial Lecture Award, Minnesota’s highest honor, in 2020.
