Greetings New Practitioners,
I would like to welcome the 2017 Pharm.D. graduates in joining the New Practitioners Forum (NPF). We are a community within ASHP that serves as the organizational home for pharmacists within their first five years of practice. The enthusiasm and engagement of our membership consistently contributes to the success of our Forum’s initiatives, and we are excited to welcome each of you as you start your career as a pharmacist!
Our NPF mission is to increase engagement within ASHP by providing a community and collective voice for new practitioners as they transition into pharmacy practice. I encourage you to make your voice heard throughout the year by participating in discussions on ASHP Connect or by reaching out to us with questions or suggestions at newpractioners@ashp.org. The NPF has developed several useful resources to aid in your training and career transitions. I highly recommend reviewing the contents of the Starting as a New Practitioner on ASHP’s recently redesigned ASHP.org to experience firsthand the wealth of information the Forum has available to you.
The vision of our Forum is to advance the future of the profession through growth of pharmacy practice leaders and ensure ASHP is their preferred professional home. To accomplish our mission and vision, we rely heavily upon our NPF volunteers through NPF Advisory Groups, our CV Review Program, and other involvement opportunities. Ninety-five NPF volunteers were recently appointed to our five Advisory Groups — Career Development, Membership and Outreach, Practice Advancement and Advocacy, Professional Practice, and Resident Advancement. These groups will soon be kicking off their year, so stay tuned to see what exciting initiatives they accomplish during their term.
We look forward to the opportunity to work with you during your time with the NPF, and please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions!
