Greetings New Practitioners,
I would like to welcome the class of 2018 Pharm.D. graduates to the ASHP New Practitioners Forum (NPF). The NPF serves as the ASHP professional home for pharmacists within their first five years of pharmacy practice (e.g. first five years of graduating from pharmacy school). The NPF supports the mission and vision of ASHP by promoting the growth of pharmacy practice leaders and providing a collective voice for the new practitioners in the association. The NPF aims to assist NPs in optimizing patient and self-care, providing information and education, growing and retaining ASHP membership, and facilitating engagement in advocacy and legislative affairs. I encourage you to check out New Practitioners Toolkit, a valuable resource with a wealth of information specifically developed by new practitioners and for new practitioners.
To better serve our NP members, the NPF has five Advisory Groups (AGs): Career Development (CDAG), Clinical Practice (CPAG), Legislative Affairs (LAAG), Membership and Outreach (MOAG), and Resident Advancement (RAAG). These groups work throughout the year to develop resources and coordinate events specifically aimed at supporting the NPF mission and vision. A summary of the great work completed by last year’s NPF AGs can be found here .
In addition to the AGs, the NPF provides additional opportunities to get involved in leadership, serve as a reviewer in AJHP, and participate in the CV Review Program. We want to hear from each of you and encourage you to participate in discussions on ASHP Connect . Throughout the year, ASHP Newslink releases will provide you with a variety of timely and beneficial updates as many of you navigate through residency and your first (or second) pharmacy positions.
We look forward to the opportunity to meet with and represent you all during the upcoming year and throughout your time as a New Practitioner. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or suggestions.
