NPF Executive Committee Message December 2019

Kellie L. E. Musch
Pharm.D., MS

December 2019

Hi New Practitioners,

It’s hard to believe that it’s already that time of year again. I hope you are wrapping up things around the office so you can jet off to a bigger, brighter, Midyear Clinical Meeting in Las Vegas, NV!

Have you already picked out which sessions to attend? While there are countless options to take advantage of during your week in Las Vegas, I encourage you to check out the New Practitioner & Resident Programming Tracks occurring all day on Sunday, December 8th (8:00AM – 4:30PM) in the Mandalay Bay South Convention Center, South Seas B & F, Level 3. In the Career Development Track (South Seas F), you will learn how to navigate workplace politics, maximize your productivity, collaborate through conversations that connect, and implement antimicrobial stewardship efforts. In the Clinical Development Track (South Seas B), you can learn about cancer medications for non-cancer indications, impact of legalized medical cannabis on our profession, comprehensive pain management, and new therapies and guideline updates for asthma management. These sessions are targeted to YOU and a perfect way to kick off your meeting!

My favorite part of the Midyear Clinical Meeting is connecting with new practitioners from across the country. One of the best ways to do that is at the New Practitioner Networking Session, hosted by our Membership and Outreach Advisory Group (MOAG), which is designed to help you share information, resources, and ideas you’re looking for to tackle your most pressing issues. New practitioners face many challenges as they begin their careers, from seeking board certification to becoming student and resident preceptors, and navigating personal and professional development throughout career transitions. This interactive session will result in new connections, better engagement, and takeaways to improve your practice and pursuit of work-life integration! I look forward to meeting you at the New Practitioner Networking Session on Sunday, December 8th from 4:00PM – 5:00PM in the Mandalay Bay South Convention Center, Lagoon F, Level 2.

Are you wanting to learn more about how to get involved in the New Practitioners Forum (NPF)? Stop by the New Practitioners Forum Table any time during the New Practitioner & Resident Programming on Sunday, December 8th located near South Seas B & F on Level 3 the to meet with NPF Executive Committee Members & Advisory Group Chairs. We would love to share our experiences with you! And you might get some cool swag out of it too.

So new practitioner, how are you feeling about the Midyear Clinical Meeting? Come talk to us at the meeting or send us ideas for ways we can better support YOU at newpractitioners@ashp.org.

Best,
