Hi New Practitioners,
It is hard to believe that it is already March! Many of you are rounding the corner to the final stretch of the residency year, while others are celebrating nine months on the job or will be celebrating with your learners as they prepare for results from the 2019 Pharmacy Residency Match. You may find yourself starting to precept and mentor others and you may be looking for resources on preceptor development and mentoring. Either way, ASHP provides resources for mentoring and precepting through the New Practitioners Forum.
A variety of tools and resources are available to assist new practitioners through preceptor and mentor development, such as:
- The ASHP Preceptor Toolkit,
- Student Preceptor Resources
- Resident Preceptor Resources
- ASHP Mentor Match
The resources above not only contain guidance documents, but also link to articles published in AJHP that may be helpful as your tackle sharpening your mentoring and preceptor development skills. One important aspect of preceptor development is providing feedback. Resources exist for providing constructive feedback as a preceptor and for providing constructive feedback to a preceptor.
Enjoy the month of March!
