Hello New Practitioners,
Spring is in the air and it is the time of year for career transitions! Students are looking forward to graduation and becoming residents, PGY1 residents are looking towards PGY2 residencies, fellowships, or starting their careers.
ASHP recognizes the stress that sometimes comes with these career transitions and has many resources available to help New Practitioners. The Career Transitions - New Practitioner webpage has great resources for anyone preparing for career transitions at any stage. An article published in AJHP has tips and tricks on improving interviewing skills for New Practitioners. There is also a guide to Video and Phone Interviews, as these are becoming increasingly common for both residency and job interviews.
If you are thinking about board certification, ASHP has a number of resources available to help you in your preparation, review, and, (eventually) recertification needs. For example, are BPS study guides to help you prepare, and if you have already obtained board certification, ASHP has a guide to recertification to help you retain your board certification.
The New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee is also preparing for transitions as well, as our term comes to an end in May 2018. We have very much enjoyed the opportunity to serve the community of New Practitioners at ASHP, and we are excited to welcome in our new Executive Committee members!
All the best,
Caroline Sierra, Pharm.D., BCPPS
