NPF Executive Committee Message May 2019

Valerie D. Nolt

May 2019

Happy Spring, New Practitioners! This is definitely an exciting time of the year as graduation season is almost upon us and many of us will be transitioning into new roles. Oftentimes, change can be very stressful as we are unsure what to expect of the future. Check out these ASHP resources that have been specifically designed for students transitioning to residentsPGY1 residents transitioning into a PGY2 residency programresidents transitioning into the workforce, and new practitioners evaluating their next steps to help you prepare for the next season of your career.

ASHP recognizes it can be difficult to keep up with the constant changes in the medical world as new drug therapies are approved, guidelines are updated, and what was the previous standard of care completely shifts. The New Practitioners Forum Clinical Practice Advisory Group spent time this year highlighting several new and emerging drug therapies to provide brief messages for new practitioners to stay up-to-date on clinical information. Check out their brief reviews on baloxavir marboxil (Xofluza), buprenorphine and naloxone (Cassipa), andexanet alfa (Andexxa), plazomicin(Zemdri), students transitioning to residentsPGY1 residents transitioning into a PGY2 residency programresidents transitioning into the workforce, and new practitioners evaluating their next steps to help you prepare for the next season of your career.

It feels like manufacturers may have used this approach to develop these new drug names.

The New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee is also preparing to transition as our term comes to an end this month and we will be welcoming in the new Executive Committee members at the ASHP Summer Meetings and Exhibition. Thank you for the opportunity to serve this community of New Practitioners over the past year!

All my best,
Valerie
